Serene

Meet Serene, the owner of Suds ‘n’ Scissors. Serene is a graduate from Prestige Grooming Academy (Class of 2006), a very rigorous grooming school in Singapore with the emphasis on standard breed cuts and Japanese-styled grooming. She has been awarded a certified groomer by P.S.G Cooperate Union of Japan. Never resting on her laurels, Serene went on to upgrade her hand scissoring and hand stripping skills at the Art of Pets Grooming School, a very prestigious grooming school in Singapore under the direction of a very talented Korea Kennel Federation Master Groomer. Her specialties lie in hand scissoring, hand stripping, and trendy Japanese-style kawaii fashion cuts with exceptional attention to details. Serene is celebrated by her clients for her gentle touches and quick hands that are aimed at producing exceptional results even for highly stressed dogs during grooming. Harnessing Serene’s years of vast experience with a strong passion in dog grooming, you can be assured that your doggie companion will be in good and steady hands.

In 2010, Serene uprooted from Singapore and moved to Canada. She relishes the opportunity to work with all breeds of dogs from teacup Yorkies to giant Newfoundlands where she got to hone her unique skills in hand scissoring and hand stripping.

Serene and her husband rescued a Cocker Spaniel back in Singapore and adopted a long-haired Mini-Dachshund when they moved to Vancouver. Now their home is lovingly filled with lots of wet kisses and wagging tails. When Serene is not grooming, you will most likely find her in the mountains pursuing her love for trail running.

Mana

Mana is a graduate of Tokyo Communication Arts College in Japan. For 3 years, she learned to be a dog groomer, dog trainer and vet assistant and when she graduated in 2014, she went on to study dog training in Australia for three months. However things got difficult when she couldn’t speak a word of English so she made the bold move to learn English in Canada. Mana moved to Vancouver in 2014 and worked hard to learn English, while working in the hospitality industry for 2 years. Mana has always love dogs and has never given up the idea to pursue her dream to become a dog groomer. In the Summer of 2017, Mana joined Suds ‘n’ Scissors and is the happiest when she sees the delighted faces of the customers when they come pick up their pups.

With slow steady hands and tons of patience, Mana has a special way to calm the fussiest and most nervous dogs. With the emphasis placed on positive experiences, your doggies are definitely in good hands here with Mana!

During her spare time, Mana loves to draw animals, cook and she loves Salsa dancing and traveling. She dreams of visiting every country in the world.

SUMMER

Hailed from South Korea, Summer was determined to work here at Suds 'n’ Scissors even before getting her working visa to Canada! Summer majored in Animal Management in Seoul Hoseo Technical College, specializing in veterinary nursing. She loved her job as a veterinary nurse, but was craving to express more of her creative and artistic skills, thus changed path and attended Choi Deokhwang Dog Grooming Academy to become a dog groomer. After receiving a year of training by the KKF master groomer himself, she was ready to jump into the field with a 2nd degree certificate in grooming. As she garnered more experience, she solidified her skills in Korean style grooming. Summer prides herself at finding the most suiting style and cut for each dog she grooms. Her passion for learning and becoming a better groomer never fades. She is eager to learn different styles from other groomers, and always researches new trends and techniques. Her positive energy seems to affect the dogs too. They always leave the shop fresher and happier than when they entered!

Summer enjoys various outdoor activities including but not limitted to swimming, running and climbing, and she plays the ukulele. Summer is mom to a poodle-terrier mix named Bom Bom.
