Meet the groomers:

I always had a passion for animals. Apparently my first word was “doggy”, although my dad still claims it was “daddy”! As a kid I brought home all kinds of sick and injured animals that we nurtured back to health and set free again. It is at no surprise that I ended up working with pets. My background of working in animal related occupations dates back to 1992. In the Netherlands I worked as an animal-ambulance attendant and a dog trainer. When I returned to BC I worked at the Reptile Refuge and as a veterinary assistant. Now I am a professionally trained all-breed dog & cat groomer. I strive to make each grooming experience as comfortable as possible for each pet and according to the owner’s wishes. I look forward to meeting you with your purring and tail-wagging friends!

It was my dream to work with dogs, so I followed a professional dog grooming course. This is how I found out that grooming was exactly what I wanted to do. I started working at Suds ‘n’ Scissors in the summer of 2007 and have learned so much more about grooming since. My dog Yuki is a Shiba-Inu and she “works” here too! It is her job to keep her friends in daycare company and to point out where a clean-up is needed.  I treat every dog as if it is my own; that must be why we get along so well. I love the relationships we create with our customers and their pets. It makes me happy when the owner and the dog both leave with a smile on their face!

Meet the Suds ‘n’ Scissors cat:

Pepe le Pew is a big black cat who is named after the cartoon character of the overly loving skunk. Just like in the cartoon, Pepe is a lover…not a fighter. He couldn’t kill a mouse, even if it was dipped in catnip! He loves dogs…and because of that, he has his own spot in the grooming salon from where he can watch dogs play in daycare and getting groomed. Say “hi” to Pepe when you see him and he’ll surely treat you with his very special “nose-rub”.
